About the Author
Leo Frishberg is a Product Design Manager at Intel with more than 40 years’ experience in design. Leo co-discovered the techniques in this book in 1984 and has been applying them in practice for over 10 years in a wide variety of contexts including consumer gifts, industrial tools, software application development and emerging businesses. These techniques have been detailed in his writings for Interactions magazine and workshops he’s led during CHI conferences.

Charles Lambdin is a User Experience Researcher and Designer at Intel Corporation. He has a Master’s in experimental psychology and a PhD in human factors. Most of his publications are in the area of research methodology and statistics.

This book fundamentally changed my perspective on design research. Presumptive Design (PrD) teaches us to embrace being wrong. As the authors write, "Everything you know about the future is wrong." How true! This confirms a suspicion I've had for a while: it's OK to start the design process with a design artifact. Just put it out there. Then, learn about your assumptions and hypotheses from first-hand user feedback - immediately. Design is not about nailing it from the beginning, but how you become less wrong as you go along.

This book is well-researched and lays out the theoretical framework for PrD in detail. The authors bring decades of experience to the topic. A clear approach to facilitating PrD and running collaborative design sessions is described in detail in Chapters 14-16. Keep in mind that the purpose of PrD is "to elicit and provoke conversations with stakeholders about their mental models through the use of a throwaway artifact." In other words, PrD engages others in a dialog about design. But it also instills a much-needed sense of humility and learning into the organization: it's OK to be wrong.

Planning and executing don't have to be separate activities in design. Thinking and doing are not discrete steps. Instead, it's thinking BY doing. As Mike Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face." PrD shows us how to take that first bold step as quickly as possible to form a design plan that is based on reality, not on hallucinations dreamed up around a boardroom table.

Reprogram your life one week at a time

Some time ago I used to do something similar. It was an idea of Benjamin Franklin’s that I followed, being enthusiastic for a week and then have another attribute the next week, but I really like the way the author Tom Miles structure his transformational suite of attitudes, ideals and habits that will, I’m sure, make your life so much more. So, I’ve started this new change in my life and am really enjoying it even though I’m only on the second week. I can tell though that it is something I’m going to really enjoy. Reading through all 52 weeks, there is nothing that I see harmful in any way, just good positive stuff. I already have a daily diary that is already set up for the month and I’ve added the next four weeks of the program. The first week is something I’ve already been working on: “Lesson 1: Live in the moment. I’m being present which is the only control we have, in the here and now.” Letting go of the past especially those bad things that happened is part of it. In coming weeks I’ll have the Spirit of gratitude, Do something that scares me and spend the week Apologizing, another easy one for me.

Road to a better life!

This book helped me live the life that I deserve. Several habits and attitudes in order to be successful are shown. It is of great importance to set first the mindset, followed by several aspects such as spiritual growth. In this book, the things you need to do every week that will pass is elucidated. This sum ups to almost a year process but even though I’ve just read this book, I am very certain that my life will transform and I will have a life full of happiness.

I found this eBook interesting and helpful. I liked the concept of this book, providing a doable challenge to the reader, for each week of the year.

Topics included: Finding the path of success that works for you, doing something that scares you, know yourself, take charge of your own happiness...and many more.

Along with the author's advice how to achieve each personal goal/challenge, suggested further reading is also included. I appreciated that too.

I think the addition of a few pertinent photos would have added to the overall presentation of this eBook. But the content that IS presented is first rate.

If you are in need of some inspiration to get back on track to a happier, more rewarding life, give this one a try.

By the time they called me, a whole week had passed since the second body had been discovered. This was a setback as much of the evidence would have disappeared by now and I'd have to work with what little evidence the local police, unaccustomed to these types of crimes, would have been able to collect. Luckily I had been allocated a competent enough CSI unit and as we flew from Washington to Kansas City International Airport, we imagined, quite rightly as it turned out, that the crime scene will have been spoiled by dozens of well-meaning but clumsy Deputies.
Liz, who I already knew professionally from the only case that I'd worked on up to then, handed me a folder containing photos; the cyanotic bodies of two naked girls, abandoned in a lagoon, like the unimportant remnants of a quiet morning picnic. I was staring into the open eyes of one of the young girls, who could not have been more than twenty years old, when I was struck by her plea: "You must find who did this to me."

About the Author
Enrique Laso was just eight years old when he started writing, and when he finished his first long story, of around 50 pages, entitled "Roca". Since then, he has written around 30 novels, books of poetry, and collections of short stories, of which only a handful have ever seen the light of day. He has won numerous literary competitions throughout his extensive literary career. For personal reasons, he did not write for almost ten years, until in 2005, when he revived his passion, and since then he has dedicated himself to it whole-heartedly.Laso also used many pseudonyms to publish his work, in various genres. The only one that he has revealed to date, however, is 'Henry Osal', which he uses when publishing books on self-help. Altogether, his works are now available in 12 different languages, and have sold around 300,000 copies throughout the world.

Enrique Laso was born in Badajoz, the capital of the Province of Badajoz in the autonomous community of Extremadura, Spain, situated close to the Portuguese border, on the left bank of the river Guadiana, in 1972. Although professionally he has always been linked to the world of marketing and communication, literature is his true passion. He began writing in his teens and in 1994 won the Murcia youth national prize for his poetry collection 'Lost children'. In 2005 he published the short novel 'from hell', adapted to film in 2014. He has published several novels under pseudonyms, the only one revealed by the author is Henry Osal who has signed several self-help manuals. 'The sound of the dead' is the novel with which he has had more success. It has sold more than 250,000 books and has been translated into 12 languages. He has won numerous literary competitions throughout his extensive literary career. For personal reasons, he did not write for almost ten years, until in 2005, when he revived his passion, and since then he has dedicated himself to writing whole-heartedly.

Enrique knows his way around mystery thrillers and of interest this Spanish author has placed his current story in the heartland of the American Midwest. He opens his story with a rather gruesome setting: `By the time they called me, a whole week had passed since the second body had been discovered. This was a setback as much of the evidence would have disappeared by now and I'd have to work with what little evidence the local police, unaccustomed to these types of crimes, would have been able to collect. Luckily I had been allocated a competent enough CSI unit and as we flew from Washington to Kansas City International Airport, we imagined, quite rightly as it turned out, that the crime scene will have been spoiled by dozens of well-meaning but clumsy Deputies. Liz, who I already knew professionally from the only case that I'd worked on up to then, handed me a folder containing photos; the cyanotic bodies of two naked girls, abandoned in a lagoon, like the unimportant remnants of a quiet morning picnic. I was staring into the open eyes of one of the young girls, who could not have been more than twenty years old, when I was struck by her plea: "You must find who did this to me." Horrified, I turned the photos over and looked out the window of the small Gulfstream III; we were already over the state of Illinois.'

We meet Ethan Bush, and FBI agent, haunted by the fear that his initial success with the FBI may not be reproducible and that he may be destined to fail. But he is assigned a cold case - in addition to the two cyanotic girls mentioned earlier, there is Sharon Nichols who was not exactly killed yesterday. Her lifeless body appeared in the same place as the other two unfortunates, but in 1998, that is ... almost 17 years ago. It was a case that went unsolved and was eventually shelved, like many others. This is the reason we needed you. We fear that we are facing a serial murderer who has returned to the area ... Who can tell how many victims he might have claimed during the last nearly twenty years!'

And so proceeds Enrique's THE BLUE CRIMES and the manner in which he places Ethan Bush and team in the resolution of crime is tense, suspenseful, and at all times involving. Crime Thriller that Won't Disappoint

This book is a strong crime thriller, but it isn’t unique enough to stand out against other books in this genre. I finished it, though, because it is against my moral code and personal sanity to put down a mystery book without finishing it.

The plot follows an almost pattern-like story of Ethan Bush , an FBI agent whose team is brought to the Midwest to solve a mystery involving a serial killer. While the Midwest aspects add a unique factor (this isn’t Law & Order: SVU in a cosmopolitan city), there really wasn’t that much else to differentiate it from another book. Ethan is a dynamic protagonist, and I was glad to follow him throughout the book.

The narration is very vivid and I could picture scenes as if it were on television, which speaks highly of the author’s writing ability. I would recommend it to people who are looking for a crime thriller and don’t really have any pressing needs or expectations, but for the seasoned reader of this genre, I would caution that it may not be the most memorable book. It is definitely entertaining and intriguing though! So it is a very well-written book, just not exceptional.

Very well written, a bit on the predictable side....

Alright so I'm a crime genre fan. I love a good thriller. I cant put these types of stories down. I definitely enjoyed this book but I will be honest when I say that it follows a very predictable pattern. Having said that, it doesn't make the book any less enjoyable. I kind of chalked it up to the fact that I've read so many of these types of books.

So, to the point, in The Blue Crimes, we meet Ethan Bush, an essential member of an FBI team brought in to help find a serial killer. Ethan is a strong willed, intelligent agent with very high standards for himself based on his initial tenure with the FBI and the success he garnered. The entire thing has a real CSI/ Law & Order type of feel.

The author,Enrique Laso is extremely descriptive, which I always find helpful when I'm getting into a new book. The book is well written for sure. The only thing I took issue with was that it was very predictable. It almost seems to follow a pattern, which I see other reviewers have picked up on. For me, I didn't take a way from the story line and you're bound to run into similar plot lines every once in a while.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and as long as you're not expecting some Earth shattering revelation this book is a great read.

I was skeptical at first but it didn't take me long to appreciate the value of illustrating how content marketing and strategy works. If you're looking for a book that shows--not just tells--you how to engage in effective content marketing, this is the one to get!

When it comes to outlining an effective content strategy, Andy Crestodina and Content Chemistry take a backseat to no one. This book contains an incredible amount of actionable steps that will keep you and your content team busy for months and years.

The illustrated aspect of Content Chemistry is an added bonus. Yes, this adds color and flare to what are typically boring black and white books, but the illustrations do a great job of helping you visualize the strategy and data rather than forcing you to make your imagination work for you.

Useful Guide

This is an interesting intro into the phenomena of hypnosis, the author like most(I've read) on the subject begins by dispeling the myths around the subject, introduces the uses, and techniques in applying the techniques, and give a sample suggestion which helped me very much, the book has a couple of success stories as well, i borrowed a friend who prepared a tape using the sample induction techniques which entrancd him whilst reading to the recorder which was entirely funny,

Pretty good!

It is a good book. I really like the auther and have some of his other books. It is good but kind of puts down some peoples beliefs about hypnosis and could ruin the fun. But remember it never says hypnosis in general isn't real. It also has some encouraging things. I mean by this, it proves wrong what made some people scared of hypnosis.
