but I didn't like this book

I don't know if the fact that I am an accountant or just very well read, had anything to do with it, but I didn't like this book. The book was more than half over before any tips about creating wealth for yourself even started to come up. I wanted to read this book and see what he was talking about, since the book was free on Amazon when I found it.

There were a lot of predictions in the book as well and in my experience growing up and watching the economy and just life in general, financial predictions haven't had much merit that I have seen. There was a date in 2014 for a prediction, I haven't looked up that prediction, but I'm pretty sure it didn't happen.

I'm not here to say that what the author says is true or not, but there did seem to be a lot of prediction and opinion and not enough fact to back up either. I'm also not saying it's not possible to get rich in a year, it very much is so, but you have to work for it, it's not just going to plop itself down in your lap because you want that wealth.

Then when he does talk about ways to get rich, it's about investing, but I personally have to do much more research on all of the investment options out there before I go investing in anything. It was a quick, easy read, and it wasn't just boring financial stuff, but I didn't find it to be relevant for what I was actually looking for.

Blunt and to the point. Easy to understand

I found this writing very informative. I have to say that this was put in very simple terms to help understand the value of money, gold, etc. I found the quotes in the book amusing. This was a very blunt writing style and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This may be a little overboard on my thinking however. It was a dooms day type narrative but it did make me think. Although I may not agree with 100% of this book it did give me a little perspective and made me think long after the book ended. Would definitely read another book by this author.

This book Project Finance is a very good read if you want to know the ins and outs of investing as a beginner. Even my husband asked who the author is when I was reading it to him. It starts off with the bigger picture of how the economy works, then leads down to how you can make your money work for yourself. It is an eye opener. It discusses a lot about what one needs to know when they're in the darkness wandering how to use their financial knowledge to their advantage. It is really helpful. I am glad to have been given the opportunity to read this for free in exchange for my honest review.

Missed the mark

From the sample I thought I'd love this book but that didn't end up being the case. I found the "witty" banter over the top and actually quite annoying. Some of the conversations between the two leads were just ridiculous... One example "every day I thank God for you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, that could ever happen to me. You are a gift from the heavens above." -Also there was very little conflict in the book and what there was was wrapped up in a neat little package far too easily, and unrealistically. This goes straight to my " once is enough" pile.

Fun story, good read, slightly wordy.

The plot is easy and predictable, the characters sincere and real. The author successfully achieves the goal of making the characters believable, setting each scene and placing them well within those scenes; however, the writing tends to be repetitive in nature, resulting in a slightly slower read as one tries to mentally reduce the wordage to its essence. This style of making a statement, and then confirming it again, and somtimes, again, and then occasionally, again, slows down the reading as one tries to figure out what wasn't necessary to the story.

"Really, how did the man do it that fast? I couldn't even have turned on the water yet, and he was done and back at his locker-naked. Did I say that he was naked? If not, I really should have. He was naked. Gloriously naked. And he wore nudity really, really well."

Some might tend to be overtly critical of this use of repetition, over, and over; however, once adjusted to this style, most readers should be able to return to the real treat of this light hearted romp through this endless quest of seeking true love.

Overall this is an overtly entertaining, funny, filled with mirth, (did I mention funny), sometimes hilarious, occasionally good humored romp through the misadventure of "literally bumping" into love and then, figuring out how to hold on to it. (Did I mention that it's funny?)

Little substance, no character development, not much of a story. The beginning was uninteresting. It got a little better in the middle. The end was a letdown. Lots of interesting possibilities left unrealized. Very weak novel. Almost no dialogue. One learns almost nothing about the two main characters. A missed opportunity. Disappointing.

Daidalos and the Origins of Greek Art

I have not had the time yet to read through the whole work. I have glanced trough it all, but I'm just starting to get in to it. I'm pressed by Amazon to give a review so...
So far it is a fascinating read. I am a student of Attic Greek and comparative literature so for me personally this is inspiring. If you wonder about the academic/scientific rigidity of the work I would suggest you read a peer review, jstor.com is a great place to start; do not trust amazon reviewers. That is my suggestion anyway. Again for me this book is a thrill, I love a bit of speculation when it is clearly stated as such, that is science, it is what it sets out to be. Some folks seem to think that what is taught in high school Greek mythology is hard evidenced backed laws of nature kind of facts, clearly this is a popular misconception. At a glance this seems like good academic work, fascinating and inspiring, a joy to read!
