Phenomenal!! Best YA book I've read in awhile.
By BookLover
Can I give this book a ten? I really loved it that much. Amelia has grown up a lot since the last book Natural Selection. She's had to, she's a kid in an adult world and now Amelia and Nate are expected to have an adult relationship. Needless to say, Nate is freaking out.
I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. The first book was awesome but this one is phenomenal. Amelia is loyal and loving but doesn't take any crap. The character's are so dimensional, especially for a young adult book. The story had so many layers and I couldn't put it down. It was BY FAR the BEST Young adult book I've read in an extremely long time.
Throw in the sexy stranger *don't want to give too much away* and I promise you will be begging for the next installment of the Forces of Nature Series!

Second Nature Review - RIA
By Melissa @ RIA
Oh how I loved this book!! I started with the first book in the series, Natural Selection, and I fell in love with this story. This isn't a review on that first book but I just loved it. A definite five star must read! Second Nature is just as good, if not a little better, since all the drama kicks up a notch and there are some great new characters.
I love Lia (Amelia) so much. She just continues to impress me as a character. She is strong and she is very intelligent. I love when she is learning more about her powers and her destiny. She can really kick some butt, and this book shows that so much.
Nate is just a mess. Don't get me wrong, I love his character so much. I am totally rooting for him here, Team Nate!, but he is just screwing things up all over the place with Lia. I wanted to feel bad for him but I was pretty stinking angry at him. Pull your head out of your.......well you get the picture.
Of course while Nate is being a bit of an idiot, in walks Mister Tall, Dark, and Angel; Dylan. Well I'm going to say he is swoon worthy (sorry Nate) and I can't blame Lia for being curious. He is sweet, caring, and he is willing to be patient for her to be ready. Yep, he's a dream.
I love that Sharp does not just focus on specific characters. While this story is primarily about Lia, we still get to see so much of Sariah and Xander's lives. I am so happy that Sariah is finding her own in this book. She is growing, too, and I love who she is becoming. Xander is the ever protective older brother. He is one of my absolute favorite characters.
This book is just a crazy ride! So much adventure, romance, and drama. I love all the paranormal aspects that Sharp writes about. The world of Forces of Nature just keeps growing and getting better! I think this series is a major must read. I cannot wait to read the next book. I can only imagine what will happen next!

Definitely read immediately after the first one!

I received this book as an ARC.
Elizabeth Sharp has done it again! Another wonderful book! If you read the first one, you know that Amelia ended the first story being married/mated to her high school crush and had barely escaped a human turned witch's horrible desire to rid the world of Otherworlders. Her brother and sister use their unique demon powers to help defeat the wannabe witch and the story appears that things are looking up for the Hoffman siblings. As this story starts though, you soon realize that Amelia and Nate (though possibly destined to be together) are not as happy as they should be. They were WAYYYYYYY too young to be married and mated. Amelia was only 16 and Nate is 17 or 18. You feel like the perfect pair is a girl's worst nightmare as Nate keeps drifting further and further away with no good explanation other than not being ready to settle down. Of course you can't blame him really since two Gaia are mated as soon as they kiss with the intentions of that kiss being more than a simple kiss. Their life forces are tired together because they gave into to temptation. It puts a whole new meaning to being chaste until your wedding night. However they never take their relationship forward even one bit because of Nate's disappearing acts. Amelia learns to hate him for abandoning her even though she still has her brother and sister.
All of this brings us to a point where she meets an angel while running from her problems. I do mean a literal angel but not the type you would normally picture. You need to read the story to understand how angels fit in this world. Amelia's world is turned upside down by the feelings she thinks she has for Dylan, the angel, and also by Peter's discovery of her family. Peter is the husband (and true warlock) to the wannabe witch from book one. He's out to destroy Amelia and her family at any cost. This is the focus of the story. How does Amelia deal with love lost, new love found, and a raging psychopath trying to kill everyone she loves? And did I mention a prophecy about Mother Nature returning to earth to either destroy it or bring the Otherworlders into peace time? Yeah there's that too, but you only get a glimpse of that and know that there must be a third book on the way where the prophecy will unfold.
